ADVENTURE TRIPS IN F.GUIANA
2008 FORMULAE FOR REGROUPED
INDIVIDUALS |
The journeys for regrouped individuals presented here
extend from 8 to 14 days in F.Guiana and are centered on the discovery of a large river
and/or a trekking in deep forest. Air transportation is not included, although we can
propose it on request.
These programs,
which are just examples, do not present any peculiar difficulty and are therefore
convenient to anyone. Nevertheless, the trekking formulae require a "normal"
physical shape and a minimum of 12 years of age is recommended.
| These
expeditions require a minimum number of participants and therefore people are regrouped on
precise programmation dates. Generally, the expeditions have fixed departure dates in the
week. If
yourselves are a group with at least the minimum number of participants indicated, you can
choose your dates (within the limits of flights availability and of our own logistic)
Otherwise, you
can choose among the programmation dates shown here.
The rest of the
stay is also proposed on a regrouped basis and all transfers are included. |

In these
programs, we include the welcome at airport, the lodging with continental buffet
breakfast, most of meals and some excursions. The main expeditions (more than one day) are
all inclusive and include a
permanent guide service.
|
"Travel
light" is the rule on the rivers and in deep forest. Maximum admissible luggage
weight on AIR GUYANE flights is 10 kg/pers. During the trekkings, the food supply is
shared for carrying. A light antimalaria treatment id
recommanded on the Maroni and Oyapock rivers. |
This type of program, including one or more important
expedition, makes it difficult to attend an Ariane launch, if one is planned at that
time.Nevertheless, when possible, the programs are arranged accordingly. Although the
attendance to a launch is free, we charge an extra cost of 25 € per person for
additional tranfers and assistance, generally by night.

2 : breakfast, departure from hotel at 7:00, transfer by road to St Laurent du
Maroni, then to the bridge on the Creek Portal on the track of Paul Isnard. Briefing on
the trip and initiation to the canoes. departure on the creek downstream to a place
for bivouac chosen depending on the group progression and the season (water level). Picnic
lunch and installation of the camp. Dinner an night in individual bivouac. |
| Day 3 to 4 :
departure in canoes for an evolution
with paddles downstream the creek. All rapids considered as dangerous by the guide will be
bypassed in the forest. During the trip, it will be possible to observe the flora and
fauna : birds and mammals, to listen to the Baboon monkeys and have the luck to see other
monkeys like Kwatas, Tamarins or Capucins. Possible observation of snakes like the
Anaconda, of Caïmans and iguanes. It is also the kingdom of insects (legionnaires ants,
elephant flies, highly colored butterflies like the Morphos). The explanations given by
the guide will give you elements about the utilisation of plants and trees as construction
or traditionnal medicine materials. The camps will be settled at different places each
day. Early morning departures for inceasing the probability to observe animals and in
order to enjoy quietly the evening bivouac after installation (fishing, fire and dinner
preparation, bathing and, depending on motivation, night walking trip). Lunches will be
taken on the way and dinners will be commonly prepared on a wood fire, based on preserves
but also on the products of fishing. The nights are in hammock under individual bivouacs. |

| Day 1 :
arrival in Cayenne-Rochambeau in the afternoon, welcome at airport transfer to Cayenne
(hotel Novotel*** on the beach, Amazonia*** or Central*** in town center), hand over of
welcome kit (detailled program with meeting points, general documentation), free dinner
and night. |

| Day 2 :
breakfast, departure from hotel at 7:30 for transfer to airport, AIR GUYANE flight at 9:00
to Saül, arrival at 9:45, welcome and installation at the village, lunch, "training
walk" on the "Gros Arbres" forest path (1h30), dinner and night (hammock)
at the village. |
| Days 3 to 5 :
3 days of fully autonomous trekking far from touristic path (2 bivouacs, approx. 5 hrs walk per
day), all meals and drinks, shared carrying of food supply, nights in hammock. On day 7,
arrival at the forest camp of "Eaux Claires", dinner and night at camp (hammock,
toilets...) |

breakfast, 2 hrs walking around the camp, lunch and walking back to Saül for the AIR
GUYANE flight at 16:15 to Cayenne, arrival at 17:00, transfer to hotel in Cayenne, free
dinner and night. |
| Day 7 : breakfast, full day excursion to the Devil's islands, crossing by catamaran sailing boat (1h15),
free visit of St Joseph island, possibility of bathing, crossing to Royale island (10
min), lunch at inn, free visit, back to the continent in the afternoon, installation at hotel in Kourou (Atlantis*** on a lake or Les
Roches*** on the beach), free dinner and night. |

at 7:30 for a guided visit of the Guiana Space Center (Jupiter control Center, Launch Center, approach of
launch pads depending on operationnal constraints), visit of Space Museum, transfer to the

Cayenne-Rochambeau airport for flight back. |
